The Futility of the Arms of Flesh in life's Pursuits
The Arm of Flesh will Fail You!
Arm of flesh refers to all human abilities, knowledge, wisdom, experiences, ideas and principles relied upon for attaining a goal or plan outside God. Jeremiah 17:5-6
The reason many boast about life and the future ahead is often based on the confidence in their Efforts, Strength and who they think they have on their side. But the LORD has said,"Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches" Jeremiah 9:23
The arm of flesh will fail anyone because, God from the beginning has cursed it to be so, for
"And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters. And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith. Deut. 32:19-20
When you Trust and hand over your ways to God, you invite Him in. Hence, says, it is better to trust in the lord than to put confidence in princes, Ps.118:6-10.
2. Only God's way leads to good success.
" I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn: Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. Psalm 75:4-7, Jeremiah 17: 7-8.
No matter how well a man plans his ways, only God's purpose will prevail.
"There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand" Proverbs 19:21. This is why the Bible says
3. The way of man is in God:
God created man by Himself for Himself. The duty of a man is to wait on, and depend on God for all his daily need. Ps.104:27-29.
Only God, the author and finisher of our faith can order and direct your way to good success as we trust and submit our will to Him in prayer. Jer.10:23, Ps.32:8
4. Man was not made to live or go about life without God.
5. Confidence in one's own ability is a proud and boasting disposition towards God and His leadership.
6. Human weapons, righteousness, natural abilities and resources cannot stand up against the spiritual wickedness with whom you have to contend in our walk, consciously or unconsciously.
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand" Even our righteousness being a filthy rag cannot save. Ephesians 6:12-13, Deut.9:3-5.
Not only David and Goliath are examples of those who trusted God and those who relied on the arms of flesh, but also Job and king Nebuchadnezzar. While David came in the name of the Lord, Goliath came by sword, javelin and his experience "Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied" 1 Samuel 17:45.
1. Believe and Trust God
Believing the Lord is the whole duty ascribed to man to seeing the wonders of God,
"Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. John 6:28-29.
2. Let God lead you:
God can't be significantly involved in the affair of anyone unless He has their permission to do so,
" So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him. He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock" Deut. 32:12-13.
Further more, Jesus did not come to partner, but to Take Over the way from those who trust Him to lead.
"And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my Lord unto his servant? Joshua 5:15, Rev.3:20
3. Prayer:
By prayer, we not only lay hold on God's promises but also make our hearts and expectations known to God, who performs all things for our good.
" Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance. So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us".Ezra 8:21-23.
"I ..(mention your full names).. confess that, I now believe that Jesus Christ came to earth, lived and died and God raised Him from the dead. Right now, I'm inviting Jesus in to my heart, forgive all my sins and come be my Lord and personal Saviour for ever. Thank you Jesus for saving me. I hereby declare that I am saved, and a born again child of God. Amen"

What must I do to be Saved?
Like, Samson, such people live and go out daily in labour and seek for victory on the strength of their abilities, learning or the experiences of others they Revere.
This is the mindset and position of the natural man or the carnal Christian who walks in self-will. It is a satanic deception for a man to boast against God, believing he can live and make it through life without God in his daily life's affair. The arm of flesh operates with anyone who trust and boast in their own strength. God has warned, saying

".. be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him: With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles" 2Chron.32:7-8
The arm of flesh will fail anyone because, God from the beginning has cursed it to be so, for
"Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. Jeremiah 17:5-6, but,
"He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail" 1Samuel 2:9.
WHY THE ARMS OF FLESH WILL FAIL:
1. It's Lack of faith in God.
When you lack faith, you will resort to your own means and get the result of your ability which is vanity upon vanity without God

"There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand" Proverbs 19:21. This is why the Bible says
"It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD, because only what God does can abide forever, Lam.3:26, Isa.40:6-8
3. The way of man is in God:
God created man by Himself for Himself. The duty of a man is to wait on, and depend on God for all his daily need. Ps.104:27-29.
The way of a man is in God, not man. This is why God says
"Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established" Pro.16:3
Only God, the author and finisher of our faith can order and direct your way to good success as we trust and submit our will to Him in prayer. Jer.10:23, Ps.32:8
4. Man was not made to live or go about life without God.
God created man to have authority, but in submission to Him. Living by the strength of your hands is not in the order of God, it makes you a God over yourself and a rebel to God's divine order.
"And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God". Luke 12:17-21
Living in the will of God requires seeking Him and inquiring of and from Him about everything and in everything.
John 15:5-6, James 4:4, 1Sam.30:8
5. Confidence in one's own ability is a proud and boasting disposition towards God and His leadership.
This is a rebellion against God. God hence counsels:
"Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. James 4:13-16
king Nebuchadnezzar's lesson proves it is foolishness to put confidence in ourselves or abilities. Dan.4:29-32;37, Ps.20:7-8
The Bible says it more explicitly. Those who trust in horses fail, but trusting and remembering the name of the Lord keeps us upstanding in battle. Ps.20:6
Job was descriped as " one like no other in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Job 1:8 and Nebuchadnezzar in his self-will was " a sinner, iniquitous, unmerciful to the poor and a proud man who contempts and disregards God. Daniel 4:27-37. But, he learnt and submitted the hard way, that every authority is under God.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. Proverbs 3:5-8
When you believe, you surrender everything, seen, unseen, known and unknown to God and hold your peace, with the assurance that it'll turn out as God has promised. This is proven by giving your life to and accept Jesus as your saviour.Jn.1:10-12
"And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net" Luke 5:5
"And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net" Luke 5:5
"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God".
Through prayer, a believer seeks God's right way for themselves.
" Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance. So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us".Ezra 8:21-23.
The supernatural help of God is available at anytime and in all situations. However, Only those who receives the Lord Jesus Christ by inviting Him into their lives to take over as their Lord and personal saviour receives His power to become more than conquerors in this life and reign as kings on and above the powers of the the earth.
To be genuinely born again or rededicate your life to God, Simply mention your name and sincerely declare as follows with your mouth:
"I ..(mention your full names).. confess that, I now believe that Jesus Christ came to earth, lived and died and God raised Him from the dead. Right now, I'm inviting Jesus in to my heart, forgive all my sins and come be my Lord and personal Saviour for ever. Thank you Jesus for saving me. I hereby declare that I am saved, and a born again child of God. Amen"
