TOPIC: THANKSGIVING: MY HONOUR TO GOD.

And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole. Luk.17:15-19

Thanksgiving is an expression of gratitude usually through an exchange of materials, verbal or non verbal actions.

It's a symbol of honour to whom you give it. Nothing demonstrates the honour and esteem to which you hold God like your visible show of gratitude.

Unfortunately, many neglect this with the illusion that there's nothing to be grateful for or that this is not necessary, as in, "who cares" whether you do it or not!

What is Honour?

A son honours his father, and a servant fears his master. Mal.1:6, John 5:23.

Honour is a tangible symbol of distinction, a show of respect and an admirable quality of a thing.

Thus, our acts of Thanksgiving confers on God a position of distinction, respect and unmatchable value among others.

Honouring God via thanksgiving is God's entitlement. And by extension, of everyone placed in our lives; our parents, and brethren-  men and women who labours in the word and doctrines, deserve double honour!

Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. 1 Timothy5:17

Whatever takes away the honour of Thanksgiving from God and those to whom it is legitimately due, denies Him His rights and whatever encourages it, enthrone God.

The joy and satisfaction honouring God by Thanksgiving brings God is beyond the physical, it is intrinsic, affecting both soul and spirit, thereby, resulting in the release of the blessings "from the soul, Gen.27:25

The body cannot contain the excitement and operations of a soul elated with the honour of Thanksgiving. Gen.27:27-29

Nothing stands in the way of progress like forgettig to show gratitude for a "little" favour. Luk.7:44-47, Luk. 17:15-19

Thanksgiving is a believers vow to God each time we see a new day. The Lord forbids any act or means by which vows are deferred, warning us  "defer not to pay" Eccl.5:4-6

Thus, thanksgiving is a debt you owe God, pay it accordingly as you have vowed to the Lord without delay. Is it in material terms, commitment or open declaration of His works or more? Do it as you have spoken in His hearing.

Your thanksgiving is your personal honor to the lord!

"When thou shalt vow a vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it: for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.

But if thou shalt forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in thee.

That which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt keep and perform; even a freewill offering, according as thou hast vowed unto the LORD thy God, which thou hast promised with thy mouth. Deuteronomy 23:21-23

Beloved, whatever good you received came from God, therefore He deserves the highest honour, but God wants an appropriate level of honour by Thanksgiving shown to the medium by which He bestows those good, this is to ensure sustainability of the blessings he bestows, saying

"For the LORD thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee" Deuteronomy 15:6

Christian-marriage: How to Find Gods will

Beloved, this is the end of the year. It's time to reminisce on the events of the year, what God has done and by whom His mercy has been shown us. Is it through good counsel, recommendations, prayers and intercession, or life saving gifts and interventions that brought us this far?

Let us show as it were, our honour and gratitude back to God and to them through an appropriate symbol of thanksgiving and exchanges- well pleasing to God. Amen

God bless you.

"Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto" Deut.15:10
